The Fiji Junior Kulas are gearing up for the upcoming OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, scheduled to commence on Sunday at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Head coach Marika Rodu has shared his confidence regarding the team’s preparation as they approach the final week of training. “Preparation is going well, and we are entering our last week before the competition. The girls are in good shape and ready for their first match against Tonga,” Rodu stated in an interview with Fiji FA Media.
Rodu expects the opening match against Tonga to be a tough contest, as the first game of any tournament tends to be challenging. “We don’t anticipate the match against Tonga to be easy, but the goal is to remain calm and focus on our performance,” he explained.
The coach emphasized Tonga’s defensive style, which often includes setting up a low block, potentially complicating Fiji’s offensive efforts.
Nevertheless, Rodu remains optimistic about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, asserting, “We will address this and aim to secure three points on Sunday.”
The match is set to kick off at 3 PM.
