The Fiji under-15 girls hockey team achieved an impressive victory against the Australian Wanderers, winning their first match with a narrow score of 1-0 at the National Hockey turf in Suva.

In the boys’ games, the results were mixed: the Wanderers Goannas played to a draw with Fiji at 1-1, while another match saw the Emus defeating Fiji 2-0. For the girls, the Wanderers Goannas secured a win against Fiji, finishing 2-1, but the Fiji girls rebounded strongly against the Emus, earning a solid 2-0 victory.

Unfortunately, one of the matches had to be halted with four minutes remaining due to heavy rain, which rendered the playing surface unplayable.

The tournament will continue tomorrow, providing more opportunities for both teams to showcase their skills and strive for further successes.

Overall, Fiji’s performance, particularly by the girls’ team, bodes well for the future, highlighting their determination and potential in the sport.
