Fiji’s U-16 Team Reflects on Championship Journey: A Lesson in Resilience

Fiji’s U-16 head coach Marika Rodu shared his reflections on his team’s journey at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, where they concluded the tournament in fifth place. Although they did not make it to the semi-finals, Rodu praised the team’s resilience and determination.

He expressed, “Even though we were out of the competition, our spirits remained high. We learned from the mistakes made in the three pool games. The match against the Solomon Islands was very competitive, but the girls were eager to finish on a positive note, and I truly appreciate their effort.”

Rodu also highlighted the valuable lessons the tournament offered. He noted, “This competition provided a lot of learning opportunities for the girls. Samoa has set a standard with their impressive ball movement and strong defensive play.”

In addition, Rodu thanked the fans for their unwavering support, acknowledging those who traveled from distant regions. “I am grateful to the fans for their commitment. The girls really appreciated their presence and enjoyed having them there,” he stated.
