Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Waterways, and Sugar Industry Inosi Kuridrani has expressed his enthusiasm for the advancements being made at the Tutu Agriculture Training Centre in Taveuni. During a recent announcement, he revealed that students from this center will now be eligible for a one-year study and work attachment program in Israel.
This initiative originated from Kuridrani’s visit to the Tutu Centre in November last year, where he was impressed by the students’ performance and the innovative agricultural training being offered. After engaging in discussions with the Navuso Agriculture Technical Institute last Tuesday, it was confirmed that Tutu students will join the ongoing 12-month attachment program in Israel that is already benefiting students from the Institute.
The program aims to immerse students in cutting-edge farming technologies, equipping them with practical skills alongside valuable international work experience. Tutu Principal Father Petero Matairatu expressed his support for this initiative, emphasizing that it will enhance students’ knowledge and better position them to contribute to the agricultural development of Fiji.
Kuridrani reiterated the importance of investing in youth through agricultural initiatives, highlighting how such programs are pivotal for creating employment opportunities, ensuring food security, and fostering sustainable development—particularly in the Vanua Levu region and rural communities. This collaborative effort marks a significant step toward empowering young agriculturalists in Fiji, ultimately enhancing the nation’s agricultural landscape.
