The Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Service (TSLS) is reinforcing its commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in Fiji by offering scholarships based on publicly available eligibility criteria. According to TSLS Chief Executive Hasmukh Lal, the organization emphasizes that gender and ethnicity are not factors in determining scholarship eligibility, as it seeks to create inclusive pathways for all students.
In the context of the growing demand for skilled labor due to global mobility, Lal noted a significant increase in interest for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) scholarships. Last year, TSLS expanded its outreach by visiting rural and maritime schools, including areas like Rotuma, which is believed to have contributed to the surge in TVET scholarship applications.
