Fiji’s capacity to attract significant investments, such as the Hilton Garden Inn, underscores the trust investors place in the nation’s economy, stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Prof. Biman Prasad. At the topping ceremony for the $75 million Phase 1 of the Hilton Garden Inn project in Suva this week, Prof. Prasad highlighted that this landmark project marks a new era for Carpenters Group and will transform Suva’s tourism sector permanently.
The Hilton Garden Inn in Suva, a collaboration between Carpenters Group and the international hotel brand Hilton, is set to feature 178 rooms upon the completion of Phase 1 in August next year, along with amenities including a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, car park, and backup power and water supply.
“Our adherence to sound fiscal policies, economic reforms, and macroeconomic stability has made Fiji a competitive and appealing investment destination,” remarked Prof. Prasad. He emphasized that investor confidence is vital for promoting sustainable development and assured that the Government will continue prioritizing policies that foster business expansion, boost investor trust, and encourage innovation.
Prof. Prasad encouraged other businesses to draw inspiration from the Carpenters Group and capitalize on the abundant investment opportunities in Fiji’s burgeoning economy.
Kunaseelan Subaratna, director of retail marketing at Carpenters Fiji Pte Limited, noted the significant evolution of the company and expressed pride in its recognition among influential entities that have contributed to Fiji’s commercial development, positioning it as a leading country in the Pacific and an attractive holiday destination worldwide.
“The topping-off ceremony of the 178-room HGI Hotel is sure to draw customers, and we aspire for our development to set a new standard both nationally and globally,” he stated. He also believes the brand is well-suited to accommodate the growing business travel demands, particularly in positioning Suva as a hub of diplomatic activity in the Pacific.
