The Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) has projected that tourist arrivals for 2024 will reach 985,524, falling just short of the one million milestone. In their November Economic Review, the RBF reported that, for the year ending October, Fiji experienced a 6.5 percent increase in visitor numbers, totaling 822,253. This growth has largely been attributed to a rise in travelers from Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and other Pacific Islands.
The RBF anticipates that, based on current trends, the annual growth rate for visitor arrivals will maintain a steady pace at 6.0 percent in 2024, ultimately leading to a new high point for Fiji’s tourism sector.
This positive outlook for 2024 not only reflects the resilience of Fiji’s tourism industry but also the country’s continued appeal as a travel destination. As the numbers approach the one million mark, stakeholders may find renewed optimism in the recovery and growth of the tourism sector. There is hope that overcoming the challenges of the past will lead to even greater successes in the future, benefiting the economy and local communities.
