Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka has assured both local and international travelers that the recent incident at the Warrick Resort is an isolated case. Seven guests were transferred to Aspen Lautoka Hospital for medical attention and ongoing investigation into their condition.

Gavoka emphasized that only these guests were affected, and there have been no other reported incidents either at the resort or anywhere else in Fiji. He highlighted that the Warrick Resort has a solid reputation and has operated successfully in the region for many years, especially among Australian tourists.

The management of the resort is distressed about the situation and is fully cooperating with the authorities as they seek to determine the cause of the guests’ illness. Gavoka mentioned that while it is essential to be cautious, the overall tourism experience in Fiji remains safe. They are awaiting lab test results to further understand the situation.

Overall, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of health and safety in the tourism sector, but it’s encouraging to see authorities responding promptly and thoroughly to protect the well-being of visitors. Fiji continues to be committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all tourists, offering beautiful landscapes and a rich cultural experience.
