Gavoka emphasized that the investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing, with the full backing of the Ministry of Health and the Fiji Police Force. He stressed that this situation only impacted these seven individuals at a specific bar within the resort, and no other incidents have been reported at the resort or anywhere else in Fiji.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the longstanding reputation of the Warrick Resort, particularly among Australian travelers, having operated successfully in Fiji for many years. He noted the distress among the resort managers and their commitment to cooperating with authorities to ensure the well-being of their guests.

While acknowledging the public’s concerns, Gavoka urged patience as they await the results of the lab tests and the findings of the ongoing investigations. He reassured everyone that the overall tourist experience in Fiji is usually very safe, and authorities are acting promptly to identify the cause of the guests’ illness.
