Fiji’s Tourism Boosted by New $75 Million Hilton Garden Inn

The tourism industry continues to be a crucial component of the Fijian economy, playing a significant role in the growth of the gross domestic product and job creation, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad.

Professor Prasad made these remarks at the inaugural event for the first phase of the $75 million Hilton Garden Inn Hotel construction in Suva. He highlighted that while the government is actively promoting economic diversification, tourism remains a key contributor and will continue to be important in the future.

The addition of the Hilton Garden Inn to Fiji’s hospitality offerings is set to enhance the country’s tourism infrastructure, Professor Prasad noted. He expressed gratitude to the Carpenters Group and all contributors to the project, acknowledging their long-standing presence in Fiji for 156 years as evidence of their dedication and vision for future developments.

Kamal Chetty, CEO of Investment Fiji, emphasized that the new hotel will help to alleviate the accommodation shortage in Suva. He stated that the opening of the Hilton Garden Inn signifies a significant step in addressing the demand for hotel rooms, particularly for business travelers, and reflects confidence in the local economy. Chetty also mentioned that this project has been in development for some time, and its progress is encouraging for the community.
