Fiji has reported a promising surge in visitor arrivals, with a total of 80,363 guests recorded in April 2025, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. This marks a significant increase of 25.9% compared to March 2025, which saw 63,842 arrivals.

Among these visitors, Australians comprised the largest group with 39,737 individuals, followed by 17,424 from New Zealand and 8,429 from the United States. The majority of visitors, 79,748, arrived by air, with a smaller number of 615 arriving by sea.

Analysis of the reasons for travel shows that the majority of visitors, accounting for 80.4%, came to enjoy holidays in Fiji. Additional motivations included visiting friends and relatives (7.9%), business trips (2.1%), and other purposes (9.6%).

This increase in tourist numbers aligns with the overall trends in Fiji’s tourism sector, which has seen fluctuations over recent months. For instance, February 2025 saw a significant drop in arrivals, reflecting seasonal variations typical in the industry. However, the rebound in April is a hopeful indicator of recovery and sustained interest in Fiji as a prime travel destination.

The tourism sector remains resilient, which is crucial for the economic health of local communities. As promotional efforts continue to showcase the beauty and hospitality of Fiji, local authorities are optimistic that the upward trajectory in visitor numbers will continue, fostering both economic growth and cultural exchange. The prospects for Fiji as a premier vacation spot appear bright as travelers seek out its unique offerings.
