Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has issued a stern warning to foreign visitors engaged in illegal activities in Fiji. He emphasized that the government is ready to take decisive action to prevent any exploitation of vulnerable individuals, particularly children.
The minister’s comments were prompted by the recent deportation of two adult film actors who came to Fiji to create content with Australian high school graduates. Tikoduadua highlighted the importance of recognizing and addressing the misuse of the country’s immigration system, especially since many visitors do not require visas to enter Fiji.
“We will actively monitor this situation to ensure that our immigration system is not abused, and to protect our youth from potential exploitation,” Tikoduadua stated.
This statement serves as a reminder of the government’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens and maintaining the integrity of its borders. The proactive measures put in place reflect a broader dedication to both tourism and community safety.
While the actions taken may seem punitive, they underscore the importance of protecting Fiji’s cultural values and the well-being of its younger population, signaling a hopeful future where tourism and child safety coexist harmoniously.
