Fiji’s Tewa Shines at Olympics: A New Personal Best!

Waisake Tewa from Team Fiji recorded his seasonal best in the 100-meter race at the Paris Olympics, finishing in 10.73 seconds. Although he placed sixth in his heat, Tewa expressed appreciation for the chance to compete at such a distinguished event while recognizing the need for improvement.

At just 20 years old, Tewa is committed to enhancing his performance and aims for better results in future Olympics. Competing against a tough field of 45 athletes, he had set his sights on a top-two finish in his heat to advance but unfortunately did not meet that target.

In the overall medal standings, China is leading with 16 gold, 11 silver, and nine bronze medals. The United States is in second place with 12 gold, 21 silver, and 20 bronze medals, while France, the host country, holds third with 12 gold, 14 silver, and 15 bronze medals. Currently, Team Fiji sits at 44th place with one silver medal.
