The event was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications Manoa Kamikamica, who emphasized the plan’s focus on four essential pillars: Regulatory Effectiveness, Service Delivery, Advocacy, and Financial Sustainability.

The launch also highlighted critical strategic enablers including Governance, Processes, and Technology, all aimed at narrowing the digital divide, fostering innovation, and solidifying Fiji’s stature as the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hub of the Pacific region.

Mr. Kamikamica expressed his belief that this strategic plan is a testament to TAF’s commitment to advancing the telecommunications sector. He envisions a digitally connected Fiji where all citizens have equal access to technology and opportunities. “The plan’s focus on regulatory excellence, improved service delivery, community advocacy, and financial stability directly aligns with the government’s vision for a digitally inclusive and empowered Fiji,” he stated. He also affirmed his confidence in TAF’s ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the effective rollout of this plan.

TAF Chairman David Eyre described the plan as a daring step towards a digitally inclusive future, expressing optimism about the transformative impact it will have on Fiji and the Pacific region. “With the backing of our stakeholders, TAF will strive to convert these ambitions into tangible benefits for the people of Fiji,” he noted.

Prit Chand, TAF’s Chief Executive Officer, highlighted that the strategic plan provides a clear and actionable roadmap for the transformation of Fiji’s telecommunications sector. “This plan not only articulates our vision for a digitally connected Fiji but also ensures that all our decisions align with our long-term goals. It will enable us to utilize our resources effectively, embrace innovation, and proactively tackle emerging challenges,” he remarked.

This strategic initiative represents a hopeful outlook for the future of telecommunications in Fiji, fostering an environment of growth, innovation, and accessibility that can significantly enhance the quality of life for its citizens. The collaborative efforts envisioned in this plan could bridge existing gaps in technology access and empower communities, ultimately contributing to the broader development of the region.
