Fiji’s Telecom Revolution: A Strategic Vision for the Future

The Telecommunications Authority of Fiji (TAF) has achieved a significant milestone with the unveiling of its inaugural Five-Year Strategic Plan for 2025-2029 at Tanoa Plaza in Suva. The event was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications Manoa Kamikamica, who highlighted the plan’s focus on four key pillars: Regulatory Effectiveness, Service Delivery, Advocacy, and Financial Sustainability.

Supporting these pillars are strategic enablers that prioritize People and Governance, Processes, and Technology. This ambitious plan seeks to address the digital divide, foster innovation, and position Fiji as the information and communication technology (ICT) hub of the Pacific region.

Kamikamica emphasized that the strategic plan reflects TAF’s commitment to fortifying the telecommunications sector. He articulated a vision for a digitally connected Fiji, where all citizens will have equal access to technology and opportunities. Furthermore, he expressed confidence that TAF would effectively engage with stakeholders to ensure the flawless execution of this plan.

TAF chairman David Eyre echoed this sentiment, underscoring the authority’s commitment to a digitally inclusive future and the transformative change the plan promises for Fiji and the broader Pacific area. CEO Prit Chand reinforced the clarity and actionable nature of the roadmap, stating it aligns TAF’s decisions with long-term goals, facilitating effective resource management and innovation while addressing future challenges.

This strategic plan is not merely a document; it signifies TAF’s proactive approach in leading Fiji towards a more connected and technologically empowered nation. With strong leadership and stakeholder collaboration, the expectation for positive outcomes is not only realistic but also promising.

In summary, TAF’s Five-Year Strategic Plan marks a crucial step towards enhancing digital accessibility and innovation in Fiji, demonstrating a collective commitment to building a brighter technological future for all its citizens.
