The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, officiated the event, emphasizing the plan’s four main pillars: Regulatory Effectiveness, Service Delivery, Advocacy, and Financial Sustainability.
This strategic initiative is further supported by enablers focusing on People and Governance, Processes, and Technology. The overarching goal of the plan is to close the digital divide, spur innovation, and reinforce Fiji’s image as the ICT hub of the Pacific region.
Kamikamica highlighted that this pivotal step demonstrates TAF’s commitment to bolstering the telecommunications sector, envisioning a digitally connected Fiji where all citizens have equal access to technology and opportunities. He expressed confidence in TAF’s collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation.
TAF Chairman David Eyre described the strategic plan as a bold step towards a more inclusive digital future, promising transformative change not just for Fiji, but for the Pacific region at large. He expressed optimism about converting these strategic aspirations into tangible benefits for the Fijian populace.
Meanwhile, TAF CEO Prit Chand discussed the clarity and actionable nature of the new roadmap, which aims to guide the transformation of Fiji’s telecommunications landscape. He pointed out that this plan aligns their decisions with long-term objectives, allowing TAF to manage resources efficiently, foster innovation, and respond adeptly to new challenges.
This strategic plan presents an inspiring vision of progress and inclusivity for Fiji, reflecting a collective effort to create a connected and empowered society.
