Talei Moodie, the latest addition to the Fiji Young Kulas under-20 football team, is filled with pride as she prepares to represent her country and family in their opening match against Brazil at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The 20-year-old forward, who plays for California State University, Fullerton, joined the team in Medellin, Colombia, on Wednesday and has quickly acclimated to her new squad. She is one of three players from overseas, alongside 15-year-old goalkeeper Aliana Vakaloloma and Preeya Singh.

Head coach Angeline Chua has expressed admiration for Moodie’s intensity and focus during training. The coaching staff has commended her tactical awareness and her flexibility to play various roles within the team.

“Talei has displayed great potential in training. Her game-reading skills and adaptability are precisely what we need in preparation for challenging opponents like Brazil,” Chua stated.

Moodie is thrilled about training with such a dedicated and supportive group and is eager to make a meaningful contribution in the upcoming match against Brazil.

“I’m happy to be here and to have the opportunity to train with such a hardworking and welcoming group. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team in any way I can, especially as we head into this important match against Brazil,” Moodie remarked.

The Young Kulas are set to face Brazil in their opening match at 11 AM today.
