Team Fiji has showcased its swimming prowess at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau, securing two gold medals and breaking national records. Samuel Yalimaiwai led the charge by winning gold in the men’s 50 meters breaststroke with a remarkable time of 27.74 seconds, which also set a new national record. Following Yalimaiwai’s success, Kelera Mudunasoko made waves in the women’s 50m breaststroke final by winning gold and setting her own national record with a time of 32.62 seconds.
Additional commendable achievements included David Young, who earned a silver medal in the men’s 50m breaststroke, and Hansel McCaig, who clinched bronze in the men’s 100m butterfly, further contributing to Team Fiji’s impressive performance in the pool.
This success aligns with Fiji’s broader efforts to elevate its swimming talent, evidenced by the strong performances at the recent Fiji Aquatics Age Group Nationals.
