Fiji’s national swimming team is making the final preparations ahead of the 2025 Pacific Mini Games, set to take place in Koror, Palau from June 29 to July 9. With just days until departure, the team of 16 swimmers, joined by two reserves, is eager to put their hard work and training to the test.

Head coach Willie Elaisa expressed optimism after witnessing the athletes perform well at their last local meet, where many swimmers achieved personal bests. He remarked, “That meet gave us the confidence we needed. Now it’s just about fine-tuning and keeping them sharp before we head off.”

Among the leading swimmers are experienced competitors Hansel McCaig, Samuel Yalimaiwai, Patrica Verebasaga, and Marseleima Moss, along with other national representatives such as Imelda Smith and Livai Raviko. Elaisa emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and trusting the training process as they gear up for the competitions ahead.

Support from Swimming Fiji and various partners has been vital in easing financial pressures, allowing the team to prioritize their training. “We’re grateful that most of our levies were sorted early,” Elaisa noted. “That really allowed us to focus purely on training and preparation.”

A final team assembly will be conducted in Suva before the athletes begin their journey on June 27. This dedicated preparation and community backing indicate a strong collective spirit, reflecting a hopeful outlook for Team Fiji as they aim to achieve remarkable results at the Mini Games.

The anticipation for the Pacific Mini Games is growing within the swimming community and beyond, with a focus on showcasing not just athletic talent but also the rich cultural pride of Fiji. The nation hopes its athletes will shine on this significant international stage, deepening the pride and unity felt throughout Fiji.
