Thirteen Fijian students have been successfully repatriated from Israel amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. This operation was conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the students’ safety after they had completed a 10-month agricultural training program at the Arava International Centre for Agricultural Training (AICAT). The students returned home just as conflict erupted between Israel and Iran, which prompted the government to activate the repatriation plan for their well-being.

Upon their arrival at Nadi International Airport, the students were greeted by family members, staff from the Navuso Agricultural Technical Institute, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The students and their families expressed their profound gratitude to the Fijian government for its decisive action in facilitating their safe return, along with the continuous support they received during their studies in Israel.

The repatriation reflects the ongoing commitment of the Fijian government to prioritize the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad, particularly in areas experiencing unrest. As highlighted in previous articles, the government has been proactive in monitoring the situation in the Middle East and has established communication with Fijians overseas to provide timely updates and support.

In this context, the successful return of these students not only underscores the government’s dedication to its citizens but also leaves room for optimism about future educational and diplomatic collaborations between Fiji and Israel that could yield significant benefits in agriculture and beyond, as both nations continue to navigate global challenges together.
