Sunishma Singh from Sigatoka is passionate about confidence, compassion, and creating positive impacts. She recently represented Fiji in the Face of Beauty International 2024 competition in Taiwan, held from September 9 to 23, where she was crowned Miss Continental Oceania, an honor given for her beauty, intelligence, and leadership.
Singh expressed that winning the title was a significant moment in her life, stating, “It was an absolute honour.” She emphasized the importance of using her platform to promote sustainable practices, particularly in addressing climate change and enhancing environmental resilience. Showcasing Fiji’s cultural heritage while advocating for meaningful causes has always motivated her.
At 28, Singh works as a sustainability officer for Tourism Fiji and is also an accredited member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. She holds a bachelor’s degree in geospatial information systems and geography, as well as a postgraduate diploma in climate change from the University of the South Pacific.
In addition to her professional commitments, she runs a business, Singh’s Herbal Hair Oil, which distributes its products in 65 supermarkets nationwide. To prepare for the pageant, she engaged in Bible reading and prayers, reinforcing her mission to authentically represent Fiji and address her passionate causes. She maintains a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise and a balanced diet, crediting her family, friends, and online community for their support.
Ms. Singh was eager to showcase Fiji’s warmth, hospitality, and cultural diversity during the pageant. She promoted eco-friendly tourism practices and highlighted the significance of sustainable development, inspiring others to embrace sustainability and cultural pride.
“Representing Fiji is both a great honour and a responsibility,” she stated, expressing her eagerness to highlight Fiji’s leadership in climate resilience and sustainable tourism, which aligns with her professional expertise. Singh is driven by a deep passion for environmental sustainability and empowering women.
In her commitment to educational initiatives for young women in rural areas, Singh’s journey as an entrepreneur and advocate inspires others to join her in promoting these values. She views the pageant as a platform to raise awareness of environmental stewardship on a global scale.
“This experience has been transformative for my personal and professional growth,” she added. Moving forward, Singh plans to continue her advocacy for climate action and support local communities through entrepreneurial ventures.
