Fiji triumphed over Solomon Islands with a 1-0 scoreline to secure fifth place in the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2024, thanks to an impressive free-kick by Sisilia Kuladina.

Both teams entered the match after narrowly missing out on a spot in the semi-finals, resulting in a tightly contested game. Solomon Islands made a last-minute adjustment to their starting lineup, bringing in Bella Fa’arodo to replace Joyce Siosi.

The first half featured few opportunities, with Solomon Islands striking the woodwork from a corner kick, while Fiji’s goalkeeper Miliana Maramanikabu had to be substituted after sustaining a head injury.

In the second half, Solomon Islands pushed hard for a goal, but it was Kuladina who proved decisive, successfully converting a free-kick taken from just outside the penalty area.

Fiji managed to maintain their lead, denying Solomon Islands any chances to equalize.
