The Fiji Water Flying Fijians triumphed over Spain in their recent test match, concluding the game with a score of 33-19. Spain initially took charge of the match and was ahead by 19-7 until the 51st minute.
Fiji made a remarkable comeback in the second half, with four players scoring tries: Sireli Maqala kicked off the scoring surge in the 54th minute, followed by Sam Matavesi at the 59th minute, Waisea Nayacalevu in the 63rd minute, and finally, debutant Setareki Turagacoke, who scored at the 69th minute.
At just 18 years old, Turagacoke played lock forward after stepping in for the injured Isoa Nasilasila, who was sidelined from last week’s encounter against Wales. Turagacoke, who has been with Stade Français Club in France since last year, showcased his talent on the international stage.
Looking ahead, Fiji is set to face Ireland in their next test match this weekend, presenting another opportunity for them to build on their recent performance.
This match not only highlights the resilience of the Fijian team but also marks the emergence of young talent like Turagacoke. The future looks bright for the Flying Fijians as they continue to evolve and strengthen their squad.
