Fiji’s Stunning Comeback: A Game-Changer at T20 World Cup!

Fiji has achieved its first victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional A Pacific tournament held in Samoa, rebounding strongly after two initial losses. The team secured a remarkable 104-run win against the previously undefeated Cook Islands, injecting fresh excitement into the competition and keeping the battle for the top position competitive.

Apete Sokovagone shone in the match, scoring 62 runs off 37 balls and earning the title of Man of the Match. Captain Peni Vuniwaqa contributed a valuable 30 runs from 15 balls, helping to set a commanding total for Fiji.

In addition, the team’s youngest player, 17-year-old Joeli Moala, put in a strong performance by taking 2 wickets for just 9 runs.

The tournament’s second round of the double round-robin format continues tomorrow, with Fiji scheduled to face Samoa as they look to maintain their positive momentum.
