The Bula Boys concluded their campaign in the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Prime Ministers Cup in Honiara, Solomon Islands, securing a commendable second place behind Papua New Guinea.

Fiji maintained an unbeaten streak throughout the tournament, capping it off with a decisive 3-1 victory over the host nation, Solomon Islands, in their final match. Gabriel Matanisiga opened the scoreline with a goal in the 33rd minute, followed by Sairusi Nalaubu’s contribution right at the end of the first half, leaving Fiji leading 2-0 at halftime.

Thomas Dunn put the game further out of reach with a goal in the 56th minute. Although Atkin Kaua found the net for the Solomon Islands in the 79th minute, Fiji effectively managed the last minutes of the match to preserve their lead.

Papua New Guinea secured the tournament title earlier that day after defeating Vanuatu 2-1, finishing with a total of 10 points. Fiji, under the guidance of coach Marika Rodu, accumulated 8 points from two wins and two draws.

This performance not only showcases Fiji’s strong presence in regional football but also sets a promising foundation for future competitions. As they continue to build on their successes, fans and supporters can look forward to a bright future in Fijian football.
