Temo Mayanavanua, a second-rower for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians, believes the team’s strength lies in their spiritual connection rather than solely in physical training. He stated, “For me personally, I feel like spiritual visits are most important. In Fiji, there are three pillars that define a Fijian: his relationship to the Vanua, his family, and his faith.”
As the team gears up for their Pacific Nations Cup opener against Samoa, Mayanavanua highlighted that spirituality serves as more than just a ritual; it acts as a guiding principle. “One message that really captured my attention was what we value most: our relationship with God, and we carry that not only on the field but off the field as well,” he shared.
The Flying Fijians are set to face Manu Samoa this Friday at 6pm.
