Robert Camilleri, managing director for Spartan Fiji/New Zealand/Australia, expressed enthusiasm over the successful outcomes of the 2024 Fiji Spartan APAC Championship, which took place at the Aviva Racecourse in Nadi. The event kicked off early with a 50km Ultra Start, followed by the 21km Beast APAC Championships.
Camilleri noted the impressive times recorded during the Championship series, highlighting the excitement surrounding the race. As participants continued to take on the course, he mentioned that the final waves would conclude around 11 AM, with many racers expected to finish in the afternoon.
The following day promised even more excitement with the 10km and 5km races, drawing larger crowds due to the shorter distances. Camilleri mentioned that many newcomers would be trying the 5km race for the first time, eager to immerse themselves in the Spartan Race experience.
International participation was robust, with racers from 24 countries joining in, while local interest also surged. Camilleri emphasized the inclusion of children in the day’s activities, marking a significant family-oriented component of the event that they aim to expand on in future iterations.
