Robert Camilleri, the managing director for Spartan Fiji/New Zealand/Australia, reported exceptional outcomes from the 2024 Fiji Spartan APAC Championship, which took place at Aviva Racecourse in Nadi. The event kicked off early with a 50km Ultra Start, followed by the 21km Beast APAC Championships.
Camilleri expressed satisfaction with the strong performances during the Championship series, noting the impressive times achieved by competitors. “We had many participants on course, and their efforts are ongoing. Most are currently running, with the last waves expected to finish around 11 am. We’ll see many participants crossing the finish line this afternoon,” he stated.
Anticipation is building for today’s events, which feature 10km and 5km races. Camilleri mentioned that these shorter distances are attracting a larger crowd, including many first-time competitors eager to experience the essence of the Spartan Race.
The event saw notable international participation from 24 countries, along with strong engagement from local enthusiasts. Families were also involved, with dedicated activities for children, helping to cultivate future interest in the sport.
Camilleri acknowledged the crucial support from event partners, emphasizing that their collaboration made the event possible. The overall success of the championship promises to build momentum for future Spartan races in Fiji.
This event not only showcased athleticism and endurance but also fostered community spirit and international camaraderie, positioning Fiji as a vibrant host for global sporting events. Moving forward, the focus will be on expanding participation and enhancing experiences for athletes and spectators alike.
