South Sea Cruises Group is set to unveil its latest venture, South Sea Cats, which will introduce a new resort transfer service along with two half-day snorkeling adventures in Fiji. The two high-speed, purpose-built catamarans were designed in New Zealand and constructed locally in Fiji. They are slated to commence operations early next year, enhancing travel options to various islands and offering new sightseeing opportunities.
Measuring approximately 14.9 meters and boasting a cruising speed of 22 knots, these vessels will comfortably accommodate up to 40 passengers. The services include morning transfers to Tokoriki and Matamanoa islands, as well as early evening transfers to resorts on Malolo Island and Castaway Islands. Passengers will also have the opportunity to enjoy Fiji’s first inflatable slide on a commercial vessel.
According to South Sea Cruises Group sales executive Sanjeshni Nand, this initiative is particularly aimed at benefiting communities across the Yasawas and Mamanucas, as getting between these islands can often be challenging. The new service aims to ease this transportation hurdle while offering shorter trips that include snorkeling experiences.
Pricing for these excursions starts at around $200 per person, and discounts are available for local residents. Additionally, passengers will be treated to inclusive buffets and light bites during their journeys. Corporate groups are also showing interest, with customized itineraries offering exclusivity and tailored experiences.
The group’s Sabre vessel will operate from Port Denarau, conveniently located just 20 minutes from Nadi International Airport. This central location allows for flexible service options, making it an attractive choice for various group sizes.
With the launch of South Sea Cats, travelers can look forward to an exciting and convenient way to explore the stunning islands of Fiji, strengthening the local tourist economy and fostering community connections.
Positive Outlook: The introduction of the South Sea Cats service not only increases tourism options but also emphasizes the importance of supporting local communities, creating a win-win scenario for both visitors and residents in Fiji’s beautiful islands.
