South Sea Cruises Group is set to introduce its new service, South Sea Cats, which will provide a fresh resort transfer option along with exciting half-day snorkeling adventures in Fiji. The launch of two fast catamarans, specially designed in New Zealand and constructed in Fiji, is scheduled for early next year. These vessels will enhance travel between the islands by offering increased transfer options and new sightseeing experiences.

With a length of approximately 14.9 meters, these catamarans can cruise at 22 knots, accommodating up to 40 passengers. The morning transfers will connect Tokoriki and Matamanoa islands, while early evening routes will service resorts on Malolo Island and Castaway Islands. A unique feature of the vessels is Fiji’s first inflatable slide available on a commercial ship.

Sanjeshni Nand, a sales executive at South Sea Cruises Group, emphasized that the initiative aims to assist communities across the Yasawas and Mamanucas, illustrating the significance of improving access to these regions. For shorter trips, passengers will enjoy engaging snorkeling experiences. The pricing is competitive, with morning trips starting at around $159 per person and other half-day excursions priced at roughly $200.

Additionally, the service offers inclusive buffet options for families, allowing guests to visit various snorkeling spots in the Mamanucas before returning to port within three to three and a half hours. This development is not only beneficial for tourists but also aims to provide local residents with year-round access to recreational activities at a discounted rate.

Group General Manager for Fiji and Asia Sales, Loretta St Julian-Ooms, mentioned that the vessel will depart and return to Port Denarau, conveniently situated just 20 minutes from Nadi International Airport. The South Sea Cats service plans to cater for corporate groups looking for tailored experiences, alongside solo travelers and families.

In conclusion, South Sea Cats promises to be a transformative addition to Fiji’s tourism landscape, fostering greater exploration of its stunning islands. The emphasis on community service and affordability points to a bright future for both locals and visitors eager to enjoy the natural beauty and adventure that Fiji has to offer. It presents a great opportunity for families and groups to enjoy Fiji’s rich marine life and scenic beauty in a unique way.

This launch heralds an era of easier access to island adventures, enriching the travel experience while prioritizing local engagement and community development.
