Fiji’s Snooker Showdown: Who Will Claim the Top Spot?

Renowned snooker players in Fiji are set to participate in the Fiji Billiards and Snooker Association (FBSA) rankings tournament, kicking off today at the third national event in Lautoka.

Sahil Prasad, one of Fiji’s top snooker representatives, has confirmed his participation in the tournament.

FBSA president Keshwan Nadan expressed his sincere appreciation to Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) for sponsoring the event with a generous contribution of $5,000, marking PSH as one of the largest sponsors for the association in recent years. Nadan stated, “I want to thank PSH for coming on board and giving $5,000; this is the major one we have so far.”

This year has seen a notable increase in the number of registered players, with over 75 individuals eager to compete. “Usually, we used to have 32 to 40 players registering their names, but now over 75 players have signed up,” Nadan noted.

Due to the heightened interest, the tournament will feature two divisions, each consisting of 65 players. Competitors can look forward to significant prize money, with rewards available even in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final. “The prize money is huge,” added Nadan.

Participants will be vying for top spots and recognition, contributing to what promises to be an exciting and competitive showcase of talent. The top 16 players will earn the chance to represent Fiji at the Oceania Games.

The tournament will take place today at the South Seas Club and Lautoka Club in Lautoka, with the finals scheduled for Sunday.
