Fiji’s Snooker Showdown: Who Will Claim the Top Spot?

Top snooker players in Fiji will compete in the Fiji Billiards and Snooker Association (FBSA) rankings tournament at the third nationals starting today in Lautoka. Sahil Prasad, one of Fiji’s top snooker representatives, has confirmed his participation in the event.

FBSA president Keshwan Nadan expressed his sincere appreciation to Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) for their sponsorship of $5,000, marking it as one of the most significant contributions the association has received in recent years.

“I want to thank PSH for coming on board and providing $5,000; this is the largest sponsorship we have secured so far,” Nadan stated.

He noted that this year, the number of registered competitors has seen a remarkable increase, with over 75 individuals signing up to compete. Typically, the association would see registrations from 32 to 40 players, but this year’s overwhelming interest has led to the formation of two divisions comprising 65 players each.

Significant prize money is set to be awarded, with players competing fiercely for top positions. “The prize money is substantial, even at the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals,” Nadan added.

The tournament aims to showcase the talent of players vying for accolades, with the top 16 players earning the opportunity to represent the country in the Oceania Games.

The tournament kicks off today at the South Seas Club and Lautoka Club, with the finals scheduled for Sunday.
