Fiji’s Snooker Showdown: Who Will Claim the Top Spot?

Top snooker players in Fiji are set to participate in the Fiji Billiards and Snooker Association (FBSA) rankings tournament, which kicks off today at the national event in Lautoka.

Sahil Prasad, one of the country’s leading snooker representatives, has confirmed his participation in the competition. FBSA President Keshwan Nadan expressed his sincere appreciation to Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) for sponsoring the tournament with a contribution of $5,000. He noted that this sponsorship marks one of the largest support received by the association in recent years.

“I want to thank PSH for coming on board and contributing $5,000; this is the biggest sponsorship we have received so far,” Nadan stated.

This year, the number of players registered to compete has seen a significant increase, with over 75 individuals keen to participate. Nadan mentioned, “In the past, we typically had between 32 to 40 players registering, but now we have over 75.”

Due to this increased interest, the competition will feature two divisions consisting of 65 players. Competitors are looking forward to earning substantial prize money, with the stakes high in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final rounds.

“The prize money is substantial,” Nadan indicated. “Players will be vying for top placements and accolades in what promises to be an engaging and competitive showcase of talent.”

Additionally, the top 16 players will have the opportunity to represent Fiji in the upcoming Oceania Games.

The tournament is taking place today at the South Seas Club and Lautoka Club in Lautoka, with the finals scheduled for Sunday.
