Fiji’s Snooker Showdown: Who Will Claim the Crown?

Top snooker players in Fiji are set to compete at the Fiji Billiards and Snooker Association (FBSA) rankings tournament, which kicks off today in Lautoka as part of the third national championship. Prominent snooker player Sahil Prasad has confirmed his participation in the event.

FBSA president Keshwan Nadan expressed his sincere appreciation to Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) for their generous sponsorship of $5,000 for the tournament, marking them as one of the largest contributors to the association in recent years. Nadan stated, “I want to thank PSH for coming on board and giving $5,000; this is the major sponsorship we have received so far.”

This year has seen a significant rise in player registrations, with over 75 individuals eager to compete, compared to the usual 32 to 40 players in previous years. Due to the large interest, the tournament will feature two divisions consisting of 65 players.

Participants will vie for substantial prize money, with significant rewards available even in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals. Nadan emphasized that the competition will showcase top talent, saying, “The top 16 players will have the opportunity to represent the country in the Oceania Games.”

The tournament commences today at the South Seas Club and Lautoka Club in Lautoka, with finals scheduled for Sunday.
