Fiji’s Sevens Talent Set to Shine at Coral Coast Tournament

Eight members from the national men’s sevens extended squad have been chosen to represent the Mike Friday Select Sevens team at the upcoming McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament. The selection was made by head coach Osea Kolinisau.

The selected players are Viliame Naikausa, Rubeni Kabu, Suliano Volivoli, Jope Tikomailepanoni, Iliavi Masori, Sakiusa Siqila, Rauto Vakadranu, and Alipate Biu. They will be joined by notable international players including Jerry Tuwai, former Ireland captain Harry McNulty, USA’s Matai Leuta, and Rosko Specman.

Jay Whyte, chairman of the tournament organizing committee, shared that the Mike Friday Select Sevens team is a new feature of this year’s tournament. He also mentioned that Luke Treharne from Wales and Alexandre Odinga from France will be part of the squad, indicating that the event will showcase a world-class level of rugby in Fiji.

These eight players have a crucial opportunity to demonstrate their skills during the tournament, as they aim to secure a place in the men’s squad for the HSBC SVSN Perth Sevens tournament set for January 24 to 26. The Coral Coast 7s tournament will take place from January 16 to 18 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
