Fiji’s Sevens Series: Who Will Claim Victory at Labasa 7s?

The Fiji Bitter Sevens Series is gaining momentum as different teams vie for top positions after the completion of six tournaments. In the men’s division, the BLK Lavidi Brothers are currently at the forefront, holding 674.891 points. They are closely followed by Emrecht Devo Babas, who have amassed 562.871 points, while Police Blue ranks third with 553.286 points.

On the women’s side, Wardens are leading the charge with a score of 96.460 points. Blue Gas Lilian White holds the second position with 83.695 points, and Tagimoucia completes the top three with 69.255 points.

All eyes are now on the upcoming Labasa 7s tournament, scheduled to take place from January 23-25 at Subrail Park. This event will feature an impressive lineup, including 40 teams in the senior men’s category, eight women’s teams, and 16 Under 21 teams, ensuring a thrilling display of rugby talent. Teams are eager to participate, especially with attractive cash prizes on offer—$7,000 for the men’s champion and $1,500 for the women’s winner. Registration for the competition closes on January 10, setting the stage for a lively display of sportsmanship and competition in Fiji’s northern region.

The Labasa 7s is anticipated to bring communities together and promote local talent, making it a highly awaited event on the sports calendar. The competitive spirit and enthusiasm around the series not only showcase the teams’ skills but also foster a sense of unity and pride among the fans and participants.
