All scouts in Fiji have been urged by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere to actively participate in promoting gender equality across all programs and to reach out to vulnerable groups, especially the elderly. This call to action was made during the opening of the National Scout Jamboree 2024 at Lawaqa Park, which brought together over 2,200 scouts, leaders, and volunteers.

President Katonivere emphasized that scout jamborees serve as a platform for building friendships and showcase the various skills scouts acquire, such as cooking, cleaning, knot tying, and hiking. He acknowledged the vital role of scout leaders, many of whom are educators, for their continuous support and mentorship.

He stated, “While it is a significant sacrifice, as scouts, we have pledged to work towards this goal to help our youth develop into responsible citizens in the future.”
