Fiji’s Rugby Legacy: President Celebrates Young Talent at 85th Deans Final

The President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, commended the collaboration among schools, organizers, parents, and sponsors for creating a nurturing environment for secondary school rugby.

Speaking at the 85th Fiji Secondary Schools Under 18 Deans final held at HFC Stadium, President Katonivere highlighted the importance of rugby in shaping the future of young Fijians.

“It is always a pleasure to celebrate rugby moments at home, particularly when they involve our students—our children,” he stated.

“This event marks a significant milestone in the rugby journey for our young students, and I am honored to be part of this celebration of 85 years of Fiji Secondary School Rugby and the final of the 2024 DEANS Competition.”

The President encouraged the student players to value their experiences and friendships, urging them to come back stronger in the following year.

“There are many young boys and girls who would want to be in your place. Enjoy this moment. Cherish the friendships. Learn the lessons along the way and return as better players next year.”

He also expressed his sincere gratitude to parents and supporters for their steadfast dedication to the players’ well-being.
