Fiji’s Rugby Heroes: A Presidential Salute Ahead of Major Matches

The Flying Fijians and Fijiana XV delivered their traditional itatau to President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House in preparation for the upcoming Pacific Nations Cup and other international fixtures.

President Katonivere greeted the teams warmly and expressed his appreciation for the pride they have instilled in the nation. He recognized the dedication and success of the teams, noting that they have become role models for young Fijians looking to pursue a career in rugby.

“We would like to thank you for your unwavering commitment to uplifting the image of rugby both locally and internationally,” President Katonivere remarked. “Your outstanding performances have made you role models for our younger generations, inspiring them to work hard and pursue careers in rugby.”

The President also extended his gratitude to the Fiji Rugby Union, coaches, and support staff for their roles in developing the players and preparing them for international competition.

The Fiji Water Flying Fijians will face Samoa this Friday at 6 pm at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, while the Vodafone Fijiana XV continues their preparations for a series of international matches, including the WXV 3 tournament in Dubai next month.
