Fiji’s Rugby Heroes: A Presidential Salute Ahead of International Showdown

The Flying Fijians and Fijiana XV recently presented their itatau to President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House in preparation for the upcoming Pacific Nations Cup and other international matches.

President Katonivere warmly welcomed the teams, expressing his gratitude and recognizing the pride they have brought to the nation. He praised their dedication and success, noting their role as inspirations for young Fijians who dream of pursuing rugby.

“We would like to thank you for your unwavering commitment to uplifting the image of rugby both locally and internationally,” President Katonivere stated. “Because of your outstanding performances, you have become role models for our younger generations, inspiring them to work hard and pursue careers in rugby.”

The President also expressed his appreciation for the Fiji Rugby Union, coaches, and support staff for their efforts in developing the players and preparing them for the international arena.

The Fiji Water Flying Fijians are scheduled to face Samoa this Friday at 6 pm at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, while the Vodafone Fijiana XV continues their preparations for several international matches, including the WXV 3 tournament in Dubai next month.
