The RT Xtreme Tae Kwon Do Summer Camp held at Sanatan Hall on Rewa Street has seen an impressive surge in attendance, with over 50 students participating in the four-day event. Head instructor Pranit Kumar, along with Grand Master Andy Rutten, who traveled from Adelaide, led the camp, sharing their extensive knowledge of Tae Kwon Do with eager students in Fiji.
Kumar shared that this year’s camp marked its third edition, with a significant extension from two days to four. “When we launched our first summer camp last year, we had 20 students. I’m happy to say that this year, we’ve doubled that number with over 50 participants, which is fantastic progress for us,” Kumar stated.
The camp focuses on development, particularly targeting students who are at lower belt levels. Kumar expressed his enthusiasm for the evident passion these young athletes have for the sport. “We are integrating both Modern and Traditional Tae Kwon Do teachings, which allows students to derive maximum benefit from Grand Master Rutten’s expertise, playing a pivotal role in their learning process,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of self-defense, Kumar noted that Tae Kwon Do equips individuals with valuable skills applicable in various situations. As the summer camp draws to a close today, the evident growth in interest and participation bodes well for the future of Tae Kwon Do in the region, fostering a robust community of young practitioners dedicated to mastering this martial art.
