Ross McDonald from Suva has been awarded the esteemed Grand Master’s award by the United Grand Lodge of England, an honour recognizing his exceptional contributions to Freemasonry spanning several decades.
A proud member of the Lodge of Fiji since 1973, McDonald has notably served as the Master of both the Lodge of Fiji in Suva and the Lodge of Discovery in Port Vila. After a commendable tenure, he retired from his role as Grand Inspector of the South West Pacific Group of Lodges, which encompasses Fiji and Vanuatu, at the end of 2023.
This prestigious Grand Master’s award, which has been bestowed upon only 82 recipients since its establishment in 1945, is limited to just twelve awardees at any given time, affirming its status as the highest recognition for Freemasons by the United Grand Lodge of England.
McDonald’s retirement and this significant accolade underline a legacy of dedication, leadership, and commitment to the Masonic community. His extensive service not only enriches Freemasonry in Fiji but also serves as an inspiration for current and future members.
The recognition presented to McDonald is a testament to the enduring impact one individual can have through years of steadfast service, embodying the principles of charity, fellowship, and integrity that Freemasonry promotes. It reflects a hopeful narrative that highlights how dedication and commitment to a cause can lead to meaningful achievements, both within the community and beyond.
