The Fiji Police Force has launched an investigation into a serious accident that took place on Friday afternoon. The collision involved a container trailer and a minibus that was transporting six passengers. This incident occurred near Lokuya Hill, past the Verata Junction, on Kings Road while heading towards Korovou Town in Tailevu North.
Authorities confirmed that both drivers, along with the passengers, were promptly taken to Korovou Hospital for medical attention. As the investigation continues, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the director of Traffic, has called on all public service vehicle drivers to exercise heightened caution while driving.
SSP Divuana emphasized the importance of road safety, stating, “This is the second incident this week involving PSVs, and innocent passengers are becoming victims on our roads.”
In light of this situation, it is crucial for all drivers, especially those operating public transportation, to remain vigilant and prioritize safety. The challenges on the road are well-known, but awareness and attentiveness can help prevent accidents and ensure the safety of passengers and drivers alike.
By focusing on improving road safety practices and compliance, there is hope for a future where such accidents become less frequent, making travel safer for everyone.
