The Fiji Roads Authority is set to widen several roads in the Suva-Nausori corridor, expanding them to four lanes to help alleviate regular traffic congestion. The targeted roads include Ratudovi Road from Nadera to Laqere, Fletcher Road from Nanuku to Laucala Bay Road, and Princess Road from Khalsa Rd to Samabula.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau emphasized the importance of this initiative during a recent session in Parliament, stating that it is part of a comprehensive medium- to long-term infrastructure development strategy. He also discussed the transport sector’s growth and future developments, which include the implementation of a decarbonization strategy aimed at assessing current transportation emissions, recognizing improvement areas, and establishing clear, feasible targets for the borough.

This initiative reflects a proactive approach to addressing traffic issues while simultaneously prioritizing sustainable development, showcasing Fiji’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructure for the benefit of its citizens and the environment. As these improvements take shape, they will likely lead to smoother commutes and contribute to a more efficient transportation network in the region.

In summary, the planned road expansions signify a crucial investment in Fiji’s infrastructure that aims to ease congestion and promote sustainability within the transport sector.
