Eight members from the national men’s sevens extended squad have been chosen to represent the Mike Friday Select Sevens team at the upcoming McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament. These players were nominated by the head coach Osea Kolinisau and include notable names such as Viliame Naikausa, Rubeni Kabu, Suliano Volivoli, Jope Tikomailepanoni, Iliavi Masori, Sakiusa Siqila, Rauto Vakadranu, and Alipate Biu.

They will be joined by renowned players including Jerry Tuwai, former Ireland captain Harry McNulty, USA’s Matai Leuta, and Rosko Specman. Jay Whyte, the chairman of the tournament organizing committee, remarked that the Mike Friday Select Sevens team is a new addition to the event, significantly elevating the tournament’s profile. Additionally, Luke Treharne from Wales and Alexandre Odinga from France are also set to be part of the Friday squad, enhancing the global appeal of this competition.

This tournament will provide the eight players with a crucial opportunity to showcase their skills in hopes of securing a spot on the men’s squad for the HSBC SVSN Perth Sevens tournament scheduled for January 24-26. The Coral Coast 7s will take place over three days from January 16-18 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
