Fiji’s Rising Stars Shine in French Top 14 Showdown

A Flying Fijian utility back showcased his skills in the French Top 14 competition on Saturday. Bayonne center Sireli Maqala formed a formidable partnership with former England international Manu Tuilagi, leading their team to a 32-15 victory over Racing 92. Maqala scored a try in the 45th minute, with tighthead prop Luke Tagi coming off the bench to support the play. Racing 92 featured powerful winger Josua Tuisova in their lineup.

In another match, elusive winger Jiu ta Wainiqolo contributed to Toulon’s 30-17 triumph over Montpellier, where he shared the wing with utility back Seta Tuicuvu.

Meanwhile, Flying Fijian second-five eighth Adrea Cocagi received a red card in the 20th minute as Castres defeated Stade Francais 35-13. Veteran Leone Nakarawa played in the lock position, while Setareki Turagacoke started on the substitutes’ bench for Stade Francais.

In a closely contested match, Semi Radradra received a yellow card while playing for Lyon as they narrowly lost 29-26 to USA Perpignan. Radradra and Sam Matavesi began the game on the bench, while Perpignan’s Tavite Veredamu scored a try during injury time, and Eneriko Buliruarua played at center.

Toulouse, featuring burly winger Setareki Bituniyata, secured a hard-fought 22-14 victory over Pau, who had Lekima Tagitagivalu on the bench.

Fiji-born winger Alivereti Raka scored a try for Clermont in their decisive 55-33 win against Vannes, where fiery flanker Peceli Yato came on as a substitute for Clermont, and Salesi Rayasi started for Vannes.
