Over 500 athletes gathered at the HFC Bank Stadium today for Trial Two of the 2025 Fiji National Athletics Championships, marking a vibrant showcase of emerging athletic talent from across the nation. The first trial was held last Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, also witnessing a significant turnout, indicative of the increasing enthusiasm for athletics in Fiji.

A total of 560 athletes representing 56 clubs, schools, and associations are participating, with competitors traveling from as far as Rotuma and Cicia in the Lau Group. This competition is crucial as it serves as a second qualification round for students who did not meet the standards at their respective school zone competitions.

Fans and supporters are encouraged to attend and cheer on these dedicated athletes as they compete across various track and field events. The Fiji Finals, a much-anticipated highlight of the athletics calendar, will be held next Thursday through Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, offering a platform for students to showcase their talents on a grand scale. Live coverage of the event will be available on FBC TV.

The ongoing preparations and excitement surrounding these championships reflect a robust culture of athletics in Fiji, with schools and communities rallying behind their athletes. This spirit of encouragement not only fosters athletic excellence but also inspires the next generation to engage in sports and pursue their ambitions with determination and teamwork.

As the competition unfolds, there is a shared hope within the community that these events will not only celebrate athletic prowess but also strengthen community bonds, illustrating the importance of support and involvement in nurturing young talent.
