Fiji’s rugby sevens scene is poised for an exciting future as two promising players have received nominations for the highly regarded HSBC SVNS 2025 Awards, set to be awarded during the upcoming SVNS World Championships and Series Playoffs in Los Angeles.

After an exhilarating seven-leg global series, World Rugby has revealed the nominees for standout players in both the men’s and women’s categories. Among them are George Bose and Vika Nakacia, who have not only showcased immense talent but also made significant contributions in their inaugural seasons with the Fijian national teams.

George Bose is nominated for Men’s Rookie of the Year following a remarkable debut season. After a year in the extended squad, he made his international debut in Dubai and has since emerged as one of the top 12 tacklers in the series. His performance played a critical role in Fiji’s success, culminating in a thrilling victory over Argentina in the semifinals of the Singapore leg, leading the team to a final win against Kenya.

On the women’s side, Vika Nakacia has gained recognition for her explosive play and skillful footwork, boasting an impressive debut season. At 26, she turned heads with a stunning hat-trick against Great Britain in Singapore and topped the women’s circuit with 116 carries, the most of any player.

Moreover, Fiji’s Vuiviwa Naduvalo has been nominated for Men’s Try of the Year for his electrifying effort against France in Dubai, further highlighting the nation’s rugby prowess.

The awards will be celebrated during the SVNS World Championships and Series Playoffs, taking place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles—a venue also set to host rugby sevens in the LA 2028 Olympic Games.

The recognition of Bose and Nakacia underscores not only their individual achievements but also the ongoing commitment of Fiji rugby to develop and showcase new talent on the world stage. With their skills and determination, the future of Fiji’s rugby sevens looks incredibly promising, inspiring hope for fans and aspiring athletes alike.
