Errol Qaqa contributed another gold medal to Team Fiji’s impressive performance at the ongoing competition, completing the men’s 100 meters hurdles with a time of 14.59 seconds. The addition of this medal is part of the team’s overall successes, which include notable performances in various events.
In the women’s discus throw, Ratu Sukuna Memorial School’s Loata Lewageena secured a silver medal with a throw of 48.15 meters, while Brieanna Rabakewa followed closely behind with a bronze at 45.61 meters. Both athletes have shown tremendous skill and fortitude, reflecting the sustained dedication among the competitors.
The excitement doesn’t stop there, as all of Team Fiji’s 200m runners have successfully qualified for today’s semifinals. In the women’s heats, Heleina Young clocked the fastest time at 25.19 seconds, with Sera Nasilivata not far behind at 25.31 seconds, and Naibena Tuilawaki finishing with a time of 26.17 seconds. On the men’s side, Waisake Tewa achieved a time of 21.48 seconds, while Ratu Penaia Ramasirai and Francis Bakaniceva qualified with times of 22.50 seconds and 22.51 seconds, respectively.
As Team Fiji continues to excel, it mirrors the prior successes seen in earlier events, such as the remarkable performances that led the nation to third place in the overall medal standings at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau.
