Fiji’s Rising Stars: Football Team Gears Up for Crucial Friendlies

The Digicel Fiji Men’s National football team is gearing up for the upcoming FIFA International “A” Friendlies Tri-Nations Series 2024, with training already in progress at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba.

Among the newly selected talents are Fiji U-19 captain Penisoni Tirau and defender Mohammad Aymaan, who both excelled in the OFC U-19 Men’s Championships earlier this year.

According to team manager Kartik Reddy, there are currently 24 players in camp, with two additional players expected to join shortly. Australian-based goalkeeper Jerome Narayan is already participating, and New Zealand-based Samuela Kautoga is set to arrive on Sunday, with captain Roy Krishna joining the team on September 3.

The final 23-member squad is scheduled to be announced on August 30 before they travel to Suva. Under the guidance of head coach Rob Sherman, the team will compete against the Solomon Islands National team on September 2 at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, followed by a match against the Hong Kong, China National team on September 8 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
